Traveling from out of town on several occasions, rarely open. Can never seem to catch the masjid open.

This is a great masjid the Muslims are very welcoming and the sheikh is very knowledgeable. I enjoy coming here.

I grew up attending. How do I get in contact to give Zakat?

They are a spin off of the nation. They are consistent with Jummah prayer and you always know what to expect. What is a problem is how cut throat their kutbah can be towards foreigners. They will say anything. There were times I was going to walk out from feeling bad for the people in the crowd he was talking about. Then for them to be about the shariah, why engage in what I see as shirk with the praise of Elijah Muhammed? That makes no sense. Either you are Muslim or not and if not then don't say you are and no Muslim prays to any human or calls anyone after The only prophet Muhammed pbuh a prophet. He was none of that. Elijah was a leader in a black empowerment movement that used the principles of Islam in connection with black knowledge of self to empower and strengthen black people. Muslims don't pray and venerate him for that. When they do that, its Islamically wrong. They have the same issues other places have with membership and youth involvement. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Too many ideas and not enough community action. But... you can go and make your prayers in peace and have a simple jummah with no headaches and no problems.
