Houssein Al-EidanHoussein Al-Eidan
Over the last 2 months I have connected with Islam and been in the right path spiritually with big thanks to this mosque being only 10 minutes from where I live. I appreciate the iftar meals as I do not have family in the US and live alone. So this mosque acted as my family. I felt I could trust them and they had my best interest at hand as Muslim brothers. However, recently I was told by a brother to head to the office as I was getting ready for Isha prayer and to speak to Hassan. He respectfully told me that “you are no longer welcome at this mosque after this point for that they will not disclose any reasons.” I complied without questioning the decision and left. As I was leaving I asked “Please let me know if there any issues that I can address and that I’m looking to educate myself on improving as a Muslim”. Hassan simply responded “there are plenty of places around this mosque that you can learn at but not this one”. This was discouraging as I had just got done fasting for the day and just prayed Maghrib at the mosque then proceeded to eat at my car since Hassan did not did offer that I sit with them at the table like he greeted and welcomed others. Nor did he rely to my “Salam Alaikum”. I just let him be. I sensed that he had an issue(s) toward me. Moreover, I looked up to the Shaykh’s at the mosque such as Jawad and others and often requested that I share their content with others because of their powerful messages and lessons they teach in their lectures. I have reached out to Jawad to communicate and resolve this matter privately but unfortunately he has not responded. I never imagined in my wildest imagination that a mosque would prevent a Muslim from attending to his prayers, education, and lectures. This hinderance and hardship from not only preventing someone from attending a mosque but pushing him away from strengthen his Islamic knowledge needs to be “questioned” seriously and strongly. If you wish to donate to this mosque, please ensure that ALL Muslims are welcomed. I don’t wish another Muslim to be discriminated against like I have been. If you are looking to improve on your Islamic state mind and education, this might not be the best supportive environment after all. I hope my situation is an “isolated” incident. I love the members of the community and have developed lots of friends. But I question leadership/ tone at the top at this mosque. How/why do you kick out a Muslim brother from the Mosque? You really can’t talk to him and resolve this matter? This mosque never has to allow me to come back nor disclose why they kicked me out. But they have to answer such questions on the day of judgement as Allah sees all things and those injustices, hardships, cruelty, hatred displayed by Muslims against another Muslim. How do you state in your lectures why Arab nations are “silent” on Gaza, and the unfairness and infringement of Palestinians by the occupying state, then turn around and do it to your own Muslim brother at your mosque? No Muslim brother defending me in this situation. “Silence” speaks volumes. And “actions” are louder than words. We have to do better as Muslims. Being a “complete” Muslim is more than just praying and fasting. May Allah guide them to the right path and never expose another Muslim to such lack of compassion and sympathy. A mosque should be a safe-Heaven for ALL Muslims and they should always feel comfortable being themselves and guided accordingly.

I said my shahada and was married at Masjid Al Iman by Imam Jawad four years ago, the brothers here are very diverse and inclusive and had no problem welcoming a revert like me. The facilities are always clean and they added an outdoor covered patio in the last few years along with improved parking. The Friday Jummah prayers are always informative and the Imams are not afraid to discuss current issues and politics when it is appropriate. It is also the best Masjid for Ramadan Iftar, they have different food every night instead of 30 days of rice and chicken, and they have the best gifts for the kids on the last night. They also have iftar on Monday and Thursday year round.

While traveling, we were able to find this masjid as we couldn't get in to Salah El Din masjid. We were able to make wude and pray here. We also found a Halal fast food nearby which offered excellent burgers at very low price.
